I dont want to go on about it and take other people on the thread for granted. Whatever I say is based on my personal experiences and experiences of people I have interacted or socialized with. I have already said that discrimination based on caste and religion are hardly issues even in small towns and villages.

If it happens it is minuscule and that can be ignored. The argument is if discrimination happens. It does. No matter how perfect or well educated any society is. WHat is being done about it and comparing different regions of the world is a different topic altogether.

It is a very long tedious debate and I dont want to get into it. There are many factors that will play into that debate and arriving at conclusions is difficult. As far as what whitebottom question was like I said casteism and racism don't exist. Even if it does it is very minuscule and can be ignored. It doesn't become an "issue". Does it affect gay dating and the LGBT communtiy? Though the fact remains that it is made into an agenda to satisfy political aspirations. But again that is a different debate.

To sum it up, there is hardly any discrimination based on caste in religion in the LGBT community. There is discrimination based on other aspects, like body shaming, that needs greater attention. Moreover he tried to break some of the sexual stereotypes surrounding people of different ethnicities and races. And instead of pointing fingers at us, he seemed rather curious to know about the working of the caste system and it's effect on gay dating scene in India. And he asked because he saw some Indians mentioning 'no brahmins' in their profile. Tbh i have also come across few profiles where i saw terms like 'no muslims' mentioned clearly.

So, how can someone think that discrimination on the basis of caste and religion doesn't happen in the Indian gay dating world?

It's an undeniable fact that caste and religion are discriminatory factors in our country as in the same way race is a discriminatory factor in the western world. The only thing is that its prevalence in big cities is less as compared to small towns and villages. As in the same way it's a fact that it's existence amongst homosexuals is comparatively much less than heterosexuals. But then, homosexuals are minority group themselves. So, it's not a surprising fact. And you are right in saying that discrimination exists everywhere and the recent case of George Floyd in the US shows us how it's still a big part of the American culture.

But to say that it is far worse and severe in the west is not true. Because you can't really compare it. In the George Floyd case, we saw how a black guy became the victim of racial discrimination but then, we also witnessed one of the largest movement in the American history where people in thousands of number came out and protested for the rights of black people.

I don't remember any such protest happening in India against any religious or caste discrimination, even though we have witnessed cases such as Hathras and Dadri mob lynching, just to name a few. So, can't really say that it's more worse in the western world than here. And tbh untill and unless we don't recognize our flaws and keep on ignoring it, we can never progress as a society and nation. Because at the end of the day, discrimination springs from ignorance itself. It's always ideal to ask the pronoun queer folk are comfortable with before assuming and addressing then in a certain way.

In academia, you see a lot of professors from foreign and some Indian universities mentioning their preferred pronouns in their mail signatures. Pronouns It's used in a lighter mood during conversations with the gay brethren. Many use it and are comfortable with it as long as it is in a joking way.. Many don't like it.

It's a personal choice and one can always request not to be addressed in the feminine gender.

It should not be taken as offensively. Being feminine or representations in feminine gender or addressing anyone by that gender does not make anyone inferior, weak or low. It is this hidden conjecture that makes men take offense.

It's very difficult to change these misogynistic attitudes. Pronouns Nope.

My response was to the very specific questions raised by whitebottom. And I have quoted the experiences of myself and the people I know in the community.

The generalized assumptions of whitebottom are not real. As I have explained the caste system may exist but it exists in rural and semi-urban areas. But to generalize it for the entire country is not correct. Discrimination exists everywhere and to my knowledge, it is far worse and severe in the west. So the western world should not really be pointing fingers at India.

The hathras case is not related to the lgbt community, It is hence irrelevant. However, I would like to say that one must not believe everything that the media projects. I dont think I personally have come across any discrimination based on religion. I have already mentioned that muslim men are actually in great demand. So maybe other religions face discrimination , which I have personally experienced and am not complaining because it is a stereotype that is prevalent in the MSM community which is not actually true.

Fantasy with your favorite celebrity Ricky Martin Your attitudes for foreigners letsfuck I agree with most of the statements you have mentioned above regarding caste discrimination in India and especially how it's not prevalent in the gay community in our country. But i'm in disagreement with some of your statements. You maybe right in saying that caste discrimination isn't a very common thing in the gay community and in very few cases we can see caste as a factor in declination of someone's proposal.

Tbh i have never come across any guy, except one, who asked about my caste or showed any hatred towards any particular caste. But to say that caste system existed centuries ago and it is barely in the Indian conscious now isn't true. The recent Hathras Case is a very strong evidence of the fact that caste system exists in our country and discrimination happens on that basis.

It may not happen on a very large scale in big cities and towns but it's existence in small towns and villages isn't deniable.
